• Independent scientists worldwide have reached a consensus about the connection between pesticides and cancers and other illnesses. [IARC Monograph on Glyphosate, 2015; Frontiers in Cancer Control, 7/24/24] 

• Now, these chemical companies are lobbying for total immunity in the halls of congress and in statehouses across the country. They want to take away our rights to make our own decisions at the local and state level about what is safe. They want to destroy the right of a local, citizen jury to decide pesticide accountability [CivilEats, 3/27/24]

• Lawsuits are our best means to get the truth from big chemical manufacturers and hold them accountable. We must not let corporate lobbyists take away that right. 

• The Environmental Protection Agency, which is the federal government agency responsible for regulating these chemicals, has not even reviewed the safety of some of these chemicals in years [EPA’s Reregistration Eligibility Decision for Glyphosate, 9/1/93]. The government watchdogs overseeing the safety of these chemicals are relying on the chemical company’s own studies [Enviro Sci Eur, 2019] and working closely with the chemical manufacturers [Intercept 6/30/21; BMC Public Health, 2022]. 

• Again and again, we have seen powerful corporations try to get away with causing widespread harm to Americans by trying to hide from accountability. We have seen it with tobacco, asbestos, opioids, and now we are seeing it with pesticides.
